Wow, that’s more than one month since I posted my last article so I feel guilty in front of my readers. That’s why I decided to share in this post what’s happening behind the scene with iCamModel, what my plans are for the near future and how you can help.

Two things keep me so busy these days:

1. My New Service For Cam Girls

Since I started my “Become Independent Cam Girl” service at the end of April it keeps me busy all the time. And this is even without any effort to promote the service. Many cam girls would like to become independent from cam networks and they’re making the right decisions to start their own web site that they can use to make money independently. So for the small fee I set up web site under their own domain name, help with choosing design they like, explain how to publish their own content, how to promote and help with many other aspects of running web site.

One category of cam models work their butt off to build and grow their websites so they can pull money out of their fans credit cards. I really enjoy working with these cam girls and try to help them in any way, either it’s a technical change to their web site or answering their questions via email, IM, etc.

But there is another category of cam girls who don’t realize that running their own web sites requires hard work and dedication. And they won’t see results (money) from their web sites for the 1st few months while they keep adding content and promoting it heavily. So they just give up to devote 100% of their time to what is working for them and making them money. And I fully understand and respect their decision.

So this is one thing that keeps me really busy. And another thing is …

2. My Other Internet Business

I won’t share too much details here but I run another business (non-adult) in the Internet and it starts getting a good traction. It’s making good money and I keep my focus on growing and making it even more successful. Some times it’s just hard to switch from one to another. I guess I need to manage my time better.

My Plans

I’m not going to give up iCamModel in any occasion either it’s because of my other business or something else. Since my “Become Independent Cam Girl” service is the main source of revenue I need to automate it more (so it doesn’t take so much time) and grow it so it makes me more money. And I have a plan already.

I’m going to turn iCamModel into membership site where I’ll be selling monthly subscriptions. Members will have access to video tutorials that will show all aspects of starting and running independent cam girl site. I’m going to create all these videos by myself and will cover everything from getting domain name, setting up hosting, installing web site, changing design, publishing content, and so on. This way cam girls will be able to follow what I do in videos and have their site up and running easily. Plus they will learn how to set up web site from scratch which means they’ll be able to do it again, i.e. to build as many sites as they like.

But I can imagine how much time will it take to make all these videos which gets us to the point …

How You Can Help

I don’t want to stop publishing articles with useful tips for cam girls. But because I don’t have time to work on these articles (for the reasons above) I need your help. I’m sure you have a lot of useful tips you could share with other cam girls who may not know it, especially beginners.

I’ve recently watched the preview of iPhone 4 and was amazed at how handy it could be for cam girls. It has so many new features that cam models can keep working on a go 24/7. If you are not iPhone user yet I would definitely recommend switching to it now because iPhone 4 will blow the mobile world. Here are 3 reasons why cam models should switch to iPhone 4:

1. FaceTime

FaceTime is the breaking feature that is going to change the mobile world. It allows to do a video call where both parties can see each other by holding their phones in front of their faces (or other parts of body LOL). This is exactly what web cam modeling is all about. But with iPhone 4 you are not dependent on your computer and physical place anymore.

At this moment there are some restrictions though. It will work only when other party has iPhone 4 as well and both phones have to be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi. However very soon third party applications will support FaceTime which will enable communication with other side that is using computer. Imagine that Skype app on iPhone 4 starts supporting FaceTime. This would mean that you can video chat with your fans who have Skype installed on their computers from any location that has Wi-Fi (e.g. Starbucks, Airport, Hotel, etc).

2. HD Video Recording

Apple has put significant effort into improving iPhone’s 4 camera. Now it allows to record a video in high definition format (HD 720p). It also has manual focusing capabilities and built in LED light. Once video is taken you can edit it right on your iPhone and upload to YouTube or Facebook. This will let you easily create video content any time you want and publish it right away on the internet. You can bring good traffic to your site by keeping your Facebook and Twitter fans updated with video content.

3. 5-Megapixel Camera With Led Flash

Cell phone cameras have recently become one of the easiest ways to upload pictures to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. This is what keeps your fans active around you on these sites. But the quality of pictures taken by cell phone cameras is not that good in many cases. With iPhone 4′s new 5-megapixel camera you should be able to take pictures of high quality even in dark environments (with the use of built in LED light).

Conclusion

Because the new generation of cell phones (smart phones) makes it so easy to publish content on the Internet every cam girl should be using cell phone to grow her fan base. Smart phones will replace laptops completely in the nearest future and iPhone 4 is the big step towards this. So if you want to be ahead of the game get your iPhone 4 as soon as possible to be above the competition.

Today I’m officially launching my new service for cam girls. It is focused on helping cam girls to become independent by running their very own web site. This is a big news for my site because now I can actually help cam models to become independent rather than just write articles with the useful info. Since the first day when I started my blog (back in February, 2009) I was constantly pitching the idea of becoming independent by running your own web site. I was showing how much opportunity you have when you build your own fan base through your site in parallel to working on cam networks. And I started getting a lot of questions from cam girls who were thinking about becoming independent but didn’t know what to start from.

This is when I first got the idea about creating this service. But I knew that I can’t start it without actually trying the whole process with real cam girls. So I started running free promotions where I promised to build web site for cam girls for FREE. I’ve got a lot of responses without even promoting this offer. I picked a couple of interested cam girls and started working with them. Although I know pretty good how to setup websites I had to learn how to make it the most effective for cam girls needs.

It’s not that hard to set up website yourself. But you should do a pretty good research on what are the right tools and what are the cheapest options.  Plus there are always some quite technical stuff that would take a lot of time to figure out.   That’s why it was clear for me that the whole process of setting up the web site should be my responsibility. Although there are things that cam girls should decide themselves like domain name, site design, etc. So I decided to make the process of setting up the web site to be ongoing communication via email where cam girl make the decisions she is supposed to make and I do all technical work. So you won’t need to dive deep into FTP, HTML, CSS, PHP and other stuff you don’t want to know.

Once site is set up cam girl has ready to use web site but she doesn’t know how to manage it properly. So this has become the 2nd part of my service: to explain how to write posts, include pictures and video in these posts, create photo gallery, manage sidebar. For many topics I’ve found great videos on YouTube that actually show how to do stuff. Also I’m planning to create my own video lessons in the near future.

I’ve gone through four different webcams and I can tell you that nothing ruins my day online more than dealing with cam problems. The last thing I want is to get frustrated during a show because people will pick up on that and start leaving my chat room, which means less money for me.

From my experience, I need a webcam to do the following things in order for me to enjoy using it and not smash it under my heels in frustration!

1.    It needs to be compatible with my computer and OS (I’m using a Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard)

2.    I need to look fabulous! That means it should work with the lighting set up that I have, which at the moment isn’t as professional as I would like. So I need to look good even under low light conditions.

3.    It needs to be able capture me in different positions without too much fiddling. My shows should seem effortless and nothing disrupts the mood more than stopping everything to fuss over getting the right angle.

4.    I must be able to use it to shoot webcam photos for my profile and promotional material.

5.    It must be able to record videos so that I can make custom videos for members of my site, as well as promotional videos so that I can increase traffic to my chat room.

Up until now, one of my biggest issues was finding a webcam that is compatible with my Mac computer. The built in webcam in my macbook pro doesn’t have the high quality video image that I need to do shows. I’ve tried using a video camera on a tripod, but my mobility was very limited because it  wasn’t able to pan/tilt. I’ve been using the Logitech Pro 9000 for the past few months and it is a very good webcam. Unfortunately, its software isn’t compatible with Mac OS. I can still use it, but I can’t adjust the settings to improve the video quality or use it to take webcam photos. So I’ve been jumping back and forth between using in on the Mac OS and running it in windows XP through boot camp. I can use the software in windows, but I don’t like using windows and it wastes time to switch to boot camp. If I use it in the Mac OS then my skin tone looks very washed out, which doesn’t exactly put a smile on my face.

So I was very excited when I was asked to review the IPEVO Point 2 View USB webcam because I read on the website that it was compatible with Mac OS. I also loved that I had the option of using it on a flexible, compact tripod or clipped to my laptop screen. I’m definitely not a technology expert, but it was very easy to install the software and figure out how to use the cam.

At the moment I am doing webcam shows on three different websites and the IPEVO Point 2 View cam worked perfectly on all sites. The video quality on my preview screen is excellent and the people in my room said the same thing, which is important because sometimes they don’t see the same thing you see on your computer.

I can’t tell you how much I love the little tripod that comes with the webcam. It is small enough to fit on my little table next to my laptop. But I can also move it onto the arms of my sofa or any other surface so that I can move into whatever position I want or I’m asked to get into. This really makes my shows more fun for me, more exciting for the viewer, and my shows are longer because I can offer the viewer more options. I also like that I can detach the cam from the tripod and it is about the size of a small flashlight, so I can do close-ups and point of view shows where the viewer sees what I see when I’m touching my body. Guys love that!

The IPEVO Point 2 View is really easy to use. You have the option of using continuous focus, which focuses on you as you move around. Or you can use static focus, which keeps the focus on a focal point, like you! I have to confess that I’m not really into reading manuals;) I like to try things out and see how the features work for me. However, I did read the manual since I was reviewing the webcam and it is suggested that you use continuous focus during video streaming. Personally, I preferred using static focus because I found continuous focus jumped around a lot. So I recommend playing around with the features until you are happy with what you see.

I’ve already recorded a few videos using the IPEVO Point 2 View webcam and I can tell that I’m going to be able to shoot videos more frequently than I used to which means more money for me! It is very easy to adjust the settings to get the saturation and contrast that you want before closing the software and opening up Quicktime (or whatever video recording software you use) to record the video. I found that recording on high quality at  640X480 produced the best quality video.

It took me a while to figure out how to take good quality photos with the IPEVO Point 2 View webcam. I was taking photos on the 640X480 resolution setting, which is what I used to shoot video clips with. The photos were very blurry which was confusing to me because the videos I shot were such good quality! I fiddled around some more and found that it is best to take photos on the highest resolution possible in the IPEVO Point 2 View software. So you’ll see the fan signs that I shot were taken at 1600X1200 resolution and are fantastic quality for webcam photos. You can zoom in really close using the software and of course use the awesome little tripod to get different angles that you would never be able to get with other similar priced webcams.

My only criticism would be that it would be helpful to be able to use the IPEVO software while you are live on webcam or recording videos. Other webcams let you adjust the contrast, zoom, and saturation while you are live or recording. I wasn’t able to use the IPEVO software while I was live on cam and Quicktime didn’t let me keep the IPEVO software open while I was recording a video in there. So that would be my suggestion for a future upgrade.

In conclusion, I can say without a doubt that I will be using the IPEVO Point 2 View webcam as my primary webcam for my private cam shows and my member cam shows on MissBellaBellini.com. It is compatible with my mac, which makes me really happy! I can also shoot videos with it and take great webcam photos to promote myself more and earn more money. But I am totally in love with the little flexible tripod that lets me get into all sorts of positions to make my shows hotter, more exciting, longer and keep guys coming back for more!

So give this webcam a try, it is under a $100 and does more than any other webcam in its price range out there at the moment.

I have a brand new webcam from IPEVO ($70 worth) that I can give away for free in exchange for the review. I was shocked with the news about UndressJess’s stroke. I’m following her on Twitter, had some communication with her before, so I feel like I know her close. And now such a bad news

I was thinking about how we can help her as community. I’ve already seen two great posts with support from Trixie and Bella Bellini . They provided some options to support Jess by purchasing her products. These options are good for her fans but we should support her directly with money. She must be facing big medical expenses now and won’t be able to get to work for a while. So money is the only thing she really needs right now.

The easiest way to donate money to her is through PayPal. Most likely she has paypal account, we just need to know her paypal ID. If any of you can get in touch with Jess (I know Trixie did once) please ask her for paypal ID. We can then place “Donate” button on her site or I can create a simple site for this. Update: Trixie thinks that PayPal is not the best option since Jess is adult oriented model and PayPal is not adult friendly. I personally think that PayPal is Ok, since we donate not for adult oriented service but to help her out with health probles . DiamondJames suggested to tip Jess through her rude profile. I’ve tried to do this but found the whole process very confusing. You need to register in order to be able to tip. And after you register you have to buy chips (minimum $25) that you can use to tip her. It must be the  better option.

Update: In one of her last twits Jess shared her chipin profile info. It’s very easy to donate through it (I just did). Just go to her chipin profile and click “Chip In!” button at the top right. It eventually processes payments through PayPal, what I origianly suggested.

I hope that my post will result in fund raising for Jess. She is the one who’s suffering now so let’s help her out to ease this suffering. If you have other suggestions how we can help Jess please share in comments.

The world financial crisis affects all of us, especially the adult entertainment industry. Unfortunately most webcam models are performing almost double the hours to pull in the same amount of money they would have been getting before the crisis model.

As an example, a web cam girl at LiveJasmin made $3-4 a minute before the crisis. Now she works for $1.99 but with a lot less clientele coming through to get the hours up. This isn’t just because of people tightening their belts. Some members search and find models who get naked during free chat, hoping the tease will get them a paid private show. Unfortunately many people find a live naked girl is… “satisfying” enough.

Some members also think outside the box, research commission you’re getting and offer to pay you directly an amount slightly higher than the commission you make with your host (which ends up less than they would pay through the host) to watch you perform on Skype, MSN and other video IMs. This will get you more money, but check your host’s ToS allows or you may find you have no clientele source if they axe you (one of the reasons having your own site’s better).

Remember to keep thinking positively, perfect your skills, work on regular clientele because they’ll always return and if you have your own personal webcam site, reassure your members you’re one of a kind (maybe have several shows a week instead of a couple or one)! The economic recession isn’t normalized yet so think about using this time constructively – maybe build your own independent webcam modeling business! The webcam world is massive and there’s potential to do almost anything you want. The opportunities are endless!
