We all know it, we read it in their TOS, we have heard the stories of many adult performers and webcam models, and yet we still want to think it would never happen to us. I am talking about having our accounts shut down by PayPal if they even suspect that you are involved in anything to do with the adult industry.

PayPal has a strict anti-adult policy which they enforce to levels you would never even comprehend and this includes the sales of used clothing, articles, books, movies, artwork etc which is linked from an adult website.

Even a financial gift send from an adoring fan to your PayPal account with a note inside that is consider adult (vanilla or fetish based) in nature can trigger the investigation process.

Allow me to give you some examples of PayPal shutting down legit businesses which had a connection to the adult industry.

Recently a lovely webcam model opened up her webcam site. She didn’t try to sell any webcam shows, talk time or clips via PayPal. All she did was install an option to buy some of her used panties (a product which is openly sold via the non-adult and partner site Ebay daily). On her very first sale her account was frozen and investigated. She is going to lose her account completely if she hasn’t done so yet. What made the sale of an everyday product unacceptable in the eyes of PayPal? It was linked from an adult webcam site, which clearly broke their TOS rules.

The well known fetish and gay writer Jack Rinella had his PayPal account frozen and lost a large amount which came from the sales of his educational fetish based books, after PayPal decided to take offense to the subject matter. This was several years back, and a story he shared during a BDSM/ Fetish workshop. So it comes directly from the horse’s mouth.

Fetish Educator and writer Goddess Bella Donna had her account frozen and shut down roughly 4 years ago after one of her adoring fans send her a cash gift and wrote a note of thanks including the words “my Goddess”. Since at that time she had a chipin button (which accepts PayPal payments) located on one of her fetish educational sites, they decided to close her account down permanently.

Now this of course brings us to a predicament since PayPal is the widest known 3rd party billing provider out there. Most adult friendly billing processors do not allow the sales of tangible goods, but only allow you to sell digital delivery products.

What can you do if you wish to sell panties, stockings, shoes etc to your webcam site customers and fans?

You can open an Ebay store up for those goods if you like and now it once again becomes TOS acceptable as long as you do the following.

• Give it a vanilla non-adult name. For example “Jane’s used treasure box” is acceptable, but you may have problems with “Webcam Mistress Joanna’s used panties”. Keep it non-adult, non-fetish, and non-sexual and you will be ok.

• Do not under any circumstances put a link from your Ebay Store on your adult webcam model website or blog.

Now what about those Ebay stores that sell adult content? If they don’t shut them down they are in a mature section only and PayPal payments are not accepted. Which ones again brings us back to the original problem

Let’s say you set up a spanking new Ebay store, got it approved and are not accepting payments via PayPal. How do you get your customers to buy the products if you can’t link it from your webcam site?

Do the following two things. First secure your PayPal account up. You now have a legit online business via your Ebay Store. Add it in the merchant information section if you like under website URLs. Now you are nice and legit. PayPal loves Ebay Stores since they get to charge you twice. Yes the same people own both places.

Next put a note on your webcam site letting your customers know that you have used items for sale, but ask them to email you for the information. This way you can send them via email (away from your adult webcam site) to your Ebay Store.

Problem solved. As long as you NEVER connect your PayPal account from your adult webcam model site you can run the two different businesses without any problem.

Good luck and remember that nobody is exempt from the PayPal rules and sooner or later they will zero in on you. The more business you generate through them with adult content or perceived adult natured, the sooner they will have their little alarm software triggered. Your funds can be frozen up for many months, and none of us webcam models can afford that.

Among all the things webcam models have to concern them-selves with while trying to earn an income like keeping their performances fresh and staying up to date with the newest trends, it is now time to add keeping up to date with political issues as well.

If you are not familiar with SOPA (Stop online piracy act) it is time you start familiarizing yourself with it. Up to this point it really didn’t concern the webcam site sector of the Adult Entertainment industry too much, but with the newest changes being on the table this may change in 2012.

At first glimpse the SOPA law may not affect the mega webcam model sites, but once you start reading closer and a bit between the lines you can see the issues emerging.
Take a look at this article and read it very carefully. SOPA is planning on going after websites now as well and that will include the mega webcam sites like LiveJasmin and Streamate and many of the clips4sale stores as well, since they can not control all the products the individual studios offer.

How could a studio or webcam show be in infringement? Belief it or not, even if you use music as a background for your show which is not public domain, or a snippet of a movie in the background which you have no license for, or use a dubbed background of a scene from another persons movie in your own product it is now copyright infringement and with that falls firmly under SOPA law.

Sounds crazy doesn’t it, but that is what SOPA is all about. Closing down any avenue that could possibly take anything from another performer and studio to use as part of your own product and persecuting to the fullest extend of the law those offending parties.

How does this affect you if you are not in infringement of any of those illegal actions, but are a performer on a mega webcam site like LiveJasmin and Streamate or use specific clips for sale outlets as your main income? The answer is simple. If the website is found to be in infringement of the SOPA law it is in danger of being shut down. Since they have no control and have no way of monitoring each individual Studios or Webcam Models content this can very easily happen. It only takes a couple of bad apples to cause the site to be shut down or heavily penalized. This means you can be out of a job without any prior notice and/or loose your already accumulated income since their assets will be seized during such a forced close down.

How can you protect yourself from this is the next big question which should come to mind and gratefully the answer is an easy one. The best course of action is to be in sole control of your webcam business. This means you are the one who controls everything that is available and you make certain that no infringement takes place. The only way you can achieve this is by running your own webcam business and website.

Aside from all the benefits owning, operating and maintaining your own webcam site already brings like keeping all your own profits, having complete control of what hours you work, which shows you wish to offer, you can now add the guarantee that you will not be shut down unless you yourself break the law.

As a smart business person, owning your own webcam site is really the only way to go in this time and age with the laws constantly changing and the adult industry being more and more restricted. By owning your own webcam site you can also keep up with the newest trends and do not need to seek the approval of a mega webcam site or clip for sale site who may or may not allow you to offer your particular niche due to their own “moral” stance on things.

Allow me to give you a small example on this. Zappa (clips4sale) has several months ago removed the hypnosis category from its listings which ironically is one of the better selling categories. Their reason was that it was “manipulation of the persons mind, without their consent”, which is hogwash since consent is given the moment the customer purchases the clip. You can still add this particular niche to your studio, but now have to place it under some other category which will not bring you the traffic to your product as it would if you could place it in the right category. If you own your own webcam site however you can offer this sort of product for sale, labeled correctly and with a much better chance of profit for you.

The motto for every webcam model or adult industry performer should be: “Know the laws, be smart, and run your own business the right way!”

Now of course you may be worried about the cost of owning your own webcam site, or do not have the technical know how to build it. Perhaps you just don’t have the time to learn to build a professional looking and attractive webcam site in which to house your personal webcam model business. Do not let this hold you back. iCamModel Service is there for you and will help you get up and running within days for a very small one time fee. Matter of fact this is the perfect time to get started since our already low price of $249.00 complete start up cost is discounted by 20% for the holiday season.

Take the worries about SOPA and any other law which may end up costing you your work environment by taking the bull by its horn and become an independent webcam model with her/his own website and full control over what you offer and your income potential.

I want to insert another quick thought into this before I close for today. The economy has taken a big effect on the spending habits of the over day consumer of adult products and services. If you have been working in the adult industry for a while you have already noticed the drop in income. Can you really afford at this point to give a large percentage of your personal income away to someone else? Can your really afford to price your shows and products in a way that will allow you to meet your personal monthly income goal each month while having to give anywhere from 30% to 50% of your earnings to a big company with hundreds or thousands of studios and performers? The answer more and likely is “NO”. Owning your own independent webcam model website is really the only way to go considering all the benefits and securities it will bring you!

Your Bag of Tricks: Best Toys for Web Cam Models

by Eva Rivera on December 8, 2011 · 1 comment

So what do web cam models actually do to make sure customers keep coming back? We talk to customers, flirt and eventually engage in some virtual play. But any cam model can give a mediocre show. To stand out and develop regulars you want to make sure your shows are sexy, fun and engaging. One way to do this is having the right props. Not all web cam models use toys but many find them very helpful in giving a show something extra. You should also expect to hear requests for toys and it’s always best to be prepared. Personally, I find that having lots of toys makes my space feel cluttered so I’ve narrowed down my selection to just a couple of reliable ones. Experiment and do what works for you.

The toys most in demand tend to be “realistic” looking dildos, for obvious reasons. There are many varities you can choose from that range in price, style, and material. They even have ones that squirt! Strong vibrators like the Hitachi Wand and colorful glass dildos are also popular choices. Size is an issue when deciding what toy to use. It’s important to balance comfort with customer demand. Many customers will ask for the biggest toy you have so don’t show one on your set unless you know you are comfortable using it. You’ll see that the art of illusion is a powerful tool here.

Whatever toy you decide to get, make sure that if it’s used for insertion, it’s high quality. You can find and succesfully use a cheap vibrator, but don’t skimp on anything you put inside your mouth, vagina or anus. It’s important to get high grade silicone, glass, metal or wood toys for your shows for three reasons:

  • The first is your health. Cheap dildos release chemicals and can irrate you and possibly lead to infections or allergic reactions.
  • Second, you get what you pay for! If you buy a cheap dildo, don’t expect it to last for very long. They are known to flake, break and just generally look cheap.
  • Finally, comfort is going to be a strong motivation once you start working 2 to 5 hour days or longer. Constant penetration for prolonged periods can get painful, even with a good amount of lubrication. Smaller sized, high quality toys, especially glass, work well and are easier on your body.

So, you have a couple of good, realiable and fun looking toys, now you need to take care of them. The first thing you should have on set is something to clean the toys with. You can purchase toy cleaning wipes at the same place you purchased your toy. You can also use feminine wipes found at any drugstore (baby wipes are not ph balanced for adult use). Or you can simply wash your toy after each show under hot water and mild soap. It’s very important to keep your toy clean and dry to avoid infections.

Be creative with your toys. If you get a glass one or anything other than a realistic one, make sure it has lots of color. You can also have props on your set to add to the atmosphere and to use at customers requests. Props like cuffs, floggers, and high heels, anal toys (i.e beads and plugs) and plenty of lube are also good items to keep in stock. Make sure you know how to operate, clean and recharge each toy.

Keeping Your Kinky Customers Coming Back

by Eva Rivera on December 1, 2011 · 0 comments

The internet is notorious for giving browsers complete anonymity and with that comes a sense of security knowing that one can explore sexual kinks and fetishes without anyone knowing.

Web cam models are often an outlet for exploring different fetishes and kinks so it helps to know how to work with your kinky customers. Very quickly you will find out that many customers have very specific scenes in mind that are not mainstream, many you’ve never even heard of!

Instead of turning down customers with unusual tastes, its best to learn about them to help you develop regulars. Many web cam models actually prefer working with certain fetish customers because the requests seem easy, even silly at times. Who wouldn’t want to spend 20 min, 30 min, even an hour or two with a customer who simply wants to admire your feet or watch you eat pie? It gives you a break from the sometimes tiring work of direct sexual stimulation. Plus, if you do it well, you will gain a regular customer.

The best thing you can do to keep these customers is to do your research. You don’t need to read stacks of books on BDSM, but it is helpful to become familiar with the most popular fetishes by doing a basic google search. You can also find a lot of information out by just asking your customer. Some will be happy to walk you through it or send you a private message with details of what they want. But don’t rely too much on this method. If a customer with a popular fetish can go to someone else who is experienced, he will. It’s just less hassle for the customer.

So what is the most popular fetish? There are some that are considered more mainstream: Foot fetish, humiliation, and role play. You will immediately come across these if you have decent traffic. Otherwise, it will vary on your look, where you advertise and the amount of traffic you have. Obviously, the more traffic you have, the more you will come across. If you have a dominate look you will get plenty of customers asking to be your slave! If you have a soft, submissive look, you might get different kinds of requests which fit your persona. If you fall somewhere in between, be prepared for anything.

You also need to do research in order to learn what you feel comfortable doing. You shouldn’t force yourself to fulfill everyone’s desires at the expense of your own comfort. Some fetishes will seem bizarre to you, but doable and others will make you feel uncertain and nervous or turned off. For example, a customer wants you to tickle your belly button with a feather. No big deal, right? You might think you have this fetish thing down and can do anything. The next customer asks you to pretend to be his sister! Maybe you are okay with this and play along, it is only play, after all. Or perhaps, you have siblings and this role playing scene makes you very uncomfortable. Do you see where research helps in this situation? If you know what kinds of role play are out there you are able to tell your customer what you do and what you won’t do, saving time and awkward moments for both of you.

Tips for Webcam Model Couples

by Eva Rivera on November 22, 2011 · 1 comment

Webcam Model CoupleSolo camming can sometimes be boring and bringing in a partner can not only give you someone to talk to, it can be an exciting addition for your customers. If you already have a boyfriend or girlfriend who is open to the idea, that is the best. You might also be able to find another webcam model to pair up with. Just remember that you will have to split the money.

If your camming partner is new to this business they might have the idea that they are just getting paid (or helping you get paid) to have sex on cam without any limitations or restrictions- pure, sexy fun. You definitely should make it as fun as possible, but remember that ultimately, camming is a job. Your partner will be asked to do all kinds of things he or she may not be “into”. Be prepared to give fetish shows and to be asked to do some very specific things. Guys pay to see their fantasies-not your boyfriend’s! Also, you will often be popping in and out of shows. Some guys only stay for a couple of minutes and your boyfriend/girlfriend may have to stop mid-sex and not be able to finish for awhile. This tends to be a lot harder for guys. It can be difficult to get erect and stay erect at a moments notice only to be back in free chat a minute later.

Also be prepared emotionally. Customers can sometimes be jealous or downright rude. They may criticize your partner or make fun of him. Usually, if you cam with another female, the criticisms come less but still be prepared to be constantly compared with each other, ie she has better boobs/ass/face, etc. Don’t take it personally, customers are just telling you their preferences and you can use it to your advantage during a show.

Chemistry is also very important for couples camming. My girlfriend and I rehearsed when we first started camming together. Now it comes naturally to us but it did take practice. Find out which positions, toys, and acts work best in your performance and show off your best assets. Don’t talk over each other and also know each others limits. Some fetishes may be no big deal to you but are off limits for your partner. Communication is key!

Make sure you both have good attitudes before going online. Customers can sense when you are angry at each other, so don’t argue or fight right before a show-that will just be a waste of time because your chemistry will be off and it ruins the mood of your room. One good way to ensure this is to do something fun or romantic together before you go online. Go on a date, give each other massages, or watch an episode of your favorite show together.

Camming couples have the potential to make a lot of money. Whether its a one time event or you are partners throughout, always make sure you are in tune with each other to make the best out of your show!

healthy cam girlOften, motivated cam models will work a regular 8 hour day with a couple of breaks in between, working several days a week–that’s a lot of stress on your body when you are working in the sex industry. Like many jobs, there are things to consider when it comes to your health. Just like those working in health care of child care professions, you need to take steps to ensure that you stay healthy, happy and infection free. Because you are most likely going to be playing with toys, lubes and fingers/hands for a few hours, you are at risk of getting some very unpleasant infections such as urinary tract infections, bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections.

You can prevent having to deal with these very annoying, painful and sometimes expensive infections which will put you out of work for at least a few days while treating them. The most important thing to do is drink plenty of water. This flushes your body of toxins naturally and will help you fight off any infections before they get worse. Another must is keeping your toys and hands very clean. This means washing your toys everyday before work, after work and during breaks. Most toys you can clean with mild soap and hot water. I recommend boiling toys for a few minutes once a week. It’s also important to purchase high quality toys made of high grade silicone, glass, or wood instead of plastic or other cheap materials. This can prevent an allergic reaction. Also, be sure to keep your nails trimmed and clean and never use the same toy for anal play as you do for vaginal play without washing it first.

Other things to do to maintain your health while camming include sticking to a healthy diet–low sugar and carbs, plenty of vegetables and lean proteins. Limit caffeine or find an alternative. Take a multivitamin everyday. I also strongly recommend taking cranberry juice or tablets daily as this will prevent urinary tract infections. Probiotics are also a great way to prevent both yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis and generally maintain a health balance of bacteria in your vagina.

Lubricants are also important to pay attention to. Cheap lubricants can irritate you or give you an allergic reaction. For continuous use, it’s best to invest in all-natural lubes that are gentle and healing on your skin. I have found that pure, raw and organic coconut oil is the best to use due to its soothing effect on skin and its anti bacterial and anti fungal properties which help to keep yeast infections away.

Be sure to wash thongs and costumes that come into contact with your vulva everyday and cleanse that area after your work day. Do not douche! Douching actually can cause infections. If you notice an infection coming on, you can gently douche with a solution of apple cider vinegar and water to re acidify your vagina. There are many natural remedies online to try before turning to prescriptions which can leave the source of the problem untreated.

Remember, keeping your body healthy and vibrant is key to being a successful web cam model and will make your experience a lot more fun!

Great Twitter Tool For Webcam Models

by Alex Shwarz on October 27, 2011 · 1 comment

by DynamiteXXX

Being independent webcam model, I am a frequent user of twitter. I write an average of 10 tweets a day (communicating with my fans and other webcam models) and considering I am not on my computer for more than 7 hours a day I have found a great way to keep tweeting and have those tweets get the most impact even when I am not around.

I use an online program called Timely to manage my tweets.

The site is simple, just like twitter. Same look and feel. Once you signup and authorize Timely to speak with your twitter account it runs a report for you based on the last 199 tweets you published and gathers some data for you.

This report will show show you what posts had the most impact and what time they were viewed at.

It also shows all the retweets on that post and all your replies as well.

It is a great snap shot of your twitter account!

When Timely has figured out what times your post have hit their highest impact you can then enter your tweets into the application. Timely will then post it for you at those time intervals.

Another great tool is, Timely makes it easy to post by adding the tool to your bookmarks. Say I want to post a twitter announcement about my new blog post. I simply go to my blog post or website and open my Timely queue. Up comes a box entering the relevant information for you. All you have to do is hit Submit and it will be posted on your twitter.

If you want to add tags or more description you can edit the premade post to your liking.

You have a choice of either posting now or add to queue. This is your next high impact time.

When your done You can view your scheduled posts and reports.

On your dashboard it will show you all the tweets you have in your queue. You can also view your performance. Here is where it will show you every tweet you made.

The top line shows you a snap shot. An overall picture of performance. How many tweets have been published since you joined Timely. How many Retweets and how many people you reached.

Then below that a breakdown of every tweet. If you had a link in your tweet it shows how many clicks were made to that link. Who Retweeted your tweet. And how many people it reached.

I was amazed to see the performance. I had no idea the impact my twitter account really had.

In one week out of 26 Tweets I have reached 41,184 potential clients, Had 16 Retweets. And some posts which contain links have been clicked on 383 times!

Not only is this tool efficient for just your every day tweeting. But having the important tweets posted at high impact times really pays off.

So Happy Tweeting Ladies!!

Tip Of The Month For Camgirls

by Alex Shwarz on September 13, 2011 · 4 comments

And the tip of the month is …

“Don’t Pick Your Nose On a Cam!”

The screenshot below was made today on a Sreamate when one of the models was picking her nose in front of the cam in a free chat! Although some guys might have such a fetish, the majority will just have some bad fun and leave, without model even knowing why.

Well, it could be so, that she was spotted accidentally while being bored and she has never done it before in front of the cam. But even in this case, if you’ve done it once you’ll do it again. And it’s just WEIRD to see nice looking girl picking her nose.

camgirl diggin nose

P.S. Thanks to Amyybaby for sharing this fun story!

About a year ago, we have helped to set up an independent web site for webcam model Roselynn Locks. The site has grown into established independent online business with solid fanbase and it keeps growing every day. Roselynn shares her experience with the service from the very beginning:

Key Points:

* Roselynn has her site up for over a year

* She was working on cam sites for about 2 month before she decided to go independent

* She was doing independent cam shows via IMs (Skype, Yahoo, MSN) for regulars from cam sites, making much more money than on cam site. So decided to go independent

* The service was affordable and priced really well

* Besides doing all the technical work the service included the tutoring on how to be a webmaster of your own web site

* Roselynn was so confident that she built her second site all by her own

* iCamModel support was helpful in the long run after the site was complete

* Big network sites take a big pay from the model earnings. But when you run independent site you pay only small processing fee to payment processors (around 10%). That’s the big reason to have independent site

* You can sell photos, videos, used panties and other stuff on your own site

* Roselynn also learned how to do search engine optimization (SEO). As result she gets really good search engine traffic that turns into paying customers. You want searchers to find you when they type something in Google. Search engine traffic is the way to go.

* Cam sites don’t let you cross promote. You can do whatever you want on your site.

* Don’t think that you just set the site up and guys start coming to you automatically. You do have to promote your site. You do have to update it.

* Roselynn worked very hard and now she sees the results. She spends very little time on cam sites and more on her own

Contact us if you are interested in starting your own independent webcam modeling site or have any questions. You can also find more info here.
